Inspired by a news item about octogenarian twins who committed suicide, Marjut Rimminen and Christine Roche imagined the possible reasons for this seemingly bizarre occurrence. The result is a film depicting a claustrophobic family atmosphere that provides a perfect breeding ground for dark secrets and unspoken events. Firmly rooted in psychological and feminist theories, The Stain evokes a mixture of humour and thriller elements using drawn and puppet animation styles.
